At Weight Loss Institute of Arizona, our patients have the option of undergoing surgery at East Valley Surgery Center in Tempe, Arizona or any other of our affiliated hospitals. Our medical directors, Dr. Michael Orris, and Dr. John DeBarros, founded the Center to provide a safe and comfortable surgical setting for weight loss surgery patients from Tucson, Phoenix, Scottsdale and beyond.
The mission of East Valley Surgery Center (EVSC) is to provide a comprehensive approach to quality of care for non-emergency healthcare services administered to patients who receive intermittent services or who remain in the facility fewer than 24 hours.
A Bariatric Surgery MBSAQIP Accredited Center
In early 2012, East Valley Surgery Center achieved the distinction of MBSAQIP Accredited Center. This prestigious accomplishment, which is often required by insurance companies, is held by a few other such facilities in the Phoenix area. It was earned through the continued dedication of our surgeons who are committed to providing every patient with excellent surgical care and positive outcomes in a safe, comfortable environment.
Another indication that EVSC is committed to providing quality care to all is its accreditation by the AAAHC (Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care). This private, non-profit organization promotes and monitors nationally recognized standards for ambulatory health care settings.
Visit the East Valley Surgery Center website for more information about our specialized facility.
For the highest attention to patient care and safety, anesthesia at EVSC is provided by board-certified M.D. anesthesiologists. In the unlikely case of an emergency, it’s important to us that the team includes a physician who is fully trained and dedicated to this aspect of patient safety. Emergencies can still occur, however, but the risks are minimized with fully credentialed physicians in attendance.
Additionally, all nursing staff and physicians are trained in Advanced Cardiac Life Support. There is a board-certified physician assigned specifically to patient care available on the premises during surgical days.
